Frequently asked questions

Why is soy wax the preferred wax?
  • Cleaner Burn: Soy wax produces minimal soot and smoke, resulting in cleaner indoor air and preventing lack residue on walls and furniture. Unlike paraffin, soy does not produce carcinogens like benzene or toluene, making it a non-toxic option safe for households with pets and children.
  • Longer Burn Time: Because soy wax has a lower melting point, it burns slower and cooler than paraffin. A soy candle can burn 30% to 50% longer than a paraffin candle of the same size, offering better value.
  • Eco-Friendly & Sustainable: Soy is a renewable, plant-based resource, unlike paraffin, which is a byproduct of petroleum mining. Soy wax is also fully biodegradable.
Is everything made out of wax?

Yes, we use 100% soy wax, including for the whip and the crumbs.

Will my candle overflow when melting?

Due to the whipped peaks, there may be some overflowing of melted wax. We recommend placing the candle on a heat-resistant surface and using a protective layer underneath to protect any surface.

Why does my candle look like it's sweating?

If you see beads or small oil build up on the top of your candles, your candle might be sweating. Sweating is notorious in 100% soy wax candles and is a sign that the product is all natural. Soy wax is sensitive to extreme temperature changes, causing the natural oils to separate from the wax and leaving pools of oil on top. Sweating will not affect the quality of your candle at all. You can simply wipe off the excess oil with a tissue. To avoid this in the future, make sure to keep your candles away from drafts, direct sunlight and room that vary in temperature.

How can I stop my candle from tunelling?

Your candle can tunnel if you extinguish the flame before its optimal burn time, leaving a literal ‘tunnel’ around the outside. This leftover wax means your candle won’t achieve its maximum burn potential and can become difficult to light later on. So please ensure you are burning your candle until the entire top layer is liquid wax. This way it will set evenly with no tunelling.

My candle tunelled, is the wax wasted?

No! If it is too late to prevent tunnelling, there are a few ways to get the most out of your candle and use the wax still stuck to the sides. The simplest way is placing the candle under a candle warmer lamp. Another option is to melt the wax and use in a wax melter - to do this, place the jar in low simmering water until the wax is melted and pour into a silicone ice cube mold to use in melters. Remember to prevent tunelling, let the first burn reach the edges.

How do I clean the glass jar for reusing?

First, remove any additional wax on the inside of the jar. You can do this by heating up your tins in low simmering water to melt the wax. If there is minimal wax, wipe out with a paper towel. If there is a larger pool of wax - don't pour it down the sink! Just add some water to the melted wax and let it cool. The hardened wax will be floating and you can just remove it and discard, or even better - use it as a melt in a melter! Finally, wash the jar with some soap and water.
